Greencity Wholefoods Ltd - Glasgow
£15.25 per hour
5 days per week, Monday to Friday, 34-37 hours
We are looking for a Buyer to join our hardworking team.
Greencity is a workers cooperative, a wholesale business that is managed and run by its members. We are looking for people who want to contribute to our business, as you will be starting as a probationary member, with a pathway to becoming a Full member of Greencity.

Job Specification:
- Managing specific product categories. This includes maintaining appropriate stock levels, identifying trends and keeping up to date with new products and potential new suppliers.
- Meeting suppliers and negotiating terms, including promotions and advertising
- Maintaining accurate product data on our computer system, including maintaining prices and margins.
- Attending relevant trade shows.
- Responding to enquiries from our sales staff, other departments and suppliers.
- Other tasks within the co-op as required.
Person Specification:
Essential:
- Previous experience of working in buying/stock control
- Numerate
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Good attention to detail and accuracy
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) and Outlook
- Ability to work under pressure
- A good knowledge of wholefoods and food issues
- Ability to work on own initiative within a team framework
Desirable:
- Prior experience of working in the food industry
- Prior experience of an ERP (Economic Resource Planning) computer system (or similar)
- A good knowledge and interest in environmental issues
- Ability to balance business and ethics
